About This Vegan Tour

Our vegan tour of the Scottish Highlands and the Isle of Skye has endless hiking and biking opportunities. Each day offers the chance to explore nearby beaches, mountains, waterfalls, cultural sites and local communities. This vegan includes a bike tour of the Great Glen Way and a hiking tour of the Isle of Skye.

The Great Glen Way follows the Caledonian Canal from Inverness in the east to Fort William in the west. Running for 100 km (60 mi), the canal connects a series of picturesque lochs backed by high ridges, including Loch Ness. Quaint Scottish villages line the canal, where we’ll meet friendly locals and other hikers and bikers making their way across the highlands. Next, we head for the Isle of Skye, one of Scotland’s premier outdoor destinations. We’ll hike to famous spots like the Old Man of Storr and Sgùrr Alasdair, and a few scenic areas you’ve never heard of. We’ll also take time to rest and relax between adventures.

Hiking, Biking & Other Activities

This vegan tour is designed to let you travel at your own pace, with ample opportunity to rest and relax—or to test your limits. Stay active and be spontaneous while exploring nearby beaches, mountains, waterfalls, cultural sites and local communities. Guided hiking and cycling excursions are offered daily. Opportunities to kayak, paddle board, surf, raft, rock climb, mountain bike and go “coasteering”—a water sport well-suited to Scotland’s rocky coast—are also offered on specific days of the tour.

More Details

  • Throughout this vegan tour of Scotland, we will stay in 3-4 star hotels and traditional Bed & Breakfasts.

We work diligently with our lodging partners to ensure that not only our meals, but all soaps, shampoos, toiletries and bedding provided are vegan.

  • Guided walking and cycling excursions are offered each day of our vegan tour. Whenever possible, we include the option to participate in other outdoor activities such as surfing, paddle boarding, kite surfing, paragliding, mountain biking, rock climbing, coasteering, and many others. These activities are offered in partnership with trusted local guiding companies in each region, and are not included in the tour cost.

  • Hiking Biking Vegan tours are designed to appeal to vegans from all walks of life, not just vegan athletes. We take great pride in designing itineraries that can accommodate vegan travelers of almost any age, fitness or experience level. Are you an experienced hiker wanting to spend 6 hours on the trail each day? We’ve got you covered. Are you a casual cyclist who’d rather spend your mornings pedaling and your afternoons curled up with a good book? We’re here for you, too.

Due to the hilly and rugged terrain of the Scottish Highlands, e-bikes are recommended for all but the most experienced cyclists.

  • We know how difficult it can be to find vegan restaurants—or just vegan options, full stop—in rural and remote areas, especially when traveling in a foreign country. That’s why we’ve done all of that on-the-ground research for you. We hope you’ll be pleasantly surprised by how much vegan variety there is to be found, when you know where to look.

  • Solo travelers are welcome on every Hiking Biking Vegan tour. The single supplement—an additional fee for a private room—is not charged in cases when a solo traveler opts to share accommodation with another solo traveler of the same gender. Private rooms are usually—but not always—available each night of a tour. Availability is often limited in rural and remote areas, such as national parks.

  • The base price of this vegan tour includes all lodging, meals, transportation and gear rental required for a Hiking Tour. Cycling and E-bike Tours include the cost of bike rental. Gear rentals and guiding services for kayaking, paddle boarding, mountain biking, etc. are paid directly to our local partners and are not included in the base price.

We use a “base price + add ons” pricing strategy in order to 1) make our tours accessible to vegan travelers with different budgets and 2) to appeal to vegan travelers of all backgrounds with a broad range of recreational interests.

  • Early July is an excellent time to explore the Scottish Highlands. Long days and mild temperatures allow more time for exploring. Summers in Scotland are milder and wetter than the rest of UK.

Our tour of the Scottish Highlands travels to several different climate zones. Much of the tour will be spent near sea level, but we will visit elevations as high as 1,345 m (4,413 ft). Expect a broad range of temperatures and weather patterns, and pack accordingly. Always pack a mid-layer and a rain jacket, as well as comfortable shoes/boots for hiking.
